People About Us

“Jackie’s coaching through a new way of eating not only helped me to lose 18 pounds in 40 days and get back to the weight I was when I met my husband, it completely changed the way I think about food and nutrition. I used to think that exercise was the key to fat loss, and I ran myself into the ground constantly trying to burn calories. Now I realize that weight loss and long-term maintenance is almost entirely about diet; exercise is for toning and conditioning, and should be enjoyable! Today, I eat a clean diet that has made maintaining my goal weight effortless…even two years after completing the program! I no longer burn myself out on the treadmill; instead, I’m able to pursue activities that energize me. I can’t recommend this program highly enough; it’s truly life-changing.”

“I have been involved in mixed martial arts for the better part of the last 10 years. I was very fortunate to have Mike Murray and Jackie Neilson as my instructors/owner/operator of the martial arts school. I can speak highly of their knowledge, skill, and expertise in kickboxing, grappling, self defense, jujitsu, nutrition and fitness. But what speaks volumes for me is their character. It is Mike and Jackie as people…. They go above and beyond their roles as instructors, managers, business operators. They take the time to get to know every student personally. Their school is their home and each student is a member of their family. This genuine feeling produces an unmatchable training atmosphere, dedicated training partners, and life-long friends on and off the mat. They’ve “got your six”.
No doubt you are in excellent hands with Mike and Jackie. Congratulations, you hit the jackpot. Good luck on your martial arts journey!”

“For as long as I can remember I have always had an uphill battle with weight. I attempted several weight loss programs, but I was bored with all of it. I tried yoga, but like the rest, I couldn’t focus. My mind is always going, and trying to meditate through yoga was laughable to me. I went to my first martial arts class with Coach Mike Murray in early 2011. I loved the atmosphere, the people, the discipline, the results I was getting, and most importantly, the instruction. It was such a great place that less than a month after joining, I started going to class six days per week. Mike is an amazing instructor and through his guidance and the help of others at the school I was getting better. The intensity allowed me to clear my mind in more ways than yoga ever could. It was the first time that my mind was calm after a workout. I didn’t pursue martial arts training to make friends, but now some of my closest friends are from those very classes. My life wouldn’t be the same without them, especially during my rough patch…
In April of 2011 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a chronic and unpredictable disease that is different for everyone, but after a little research I found out that being in great shape can help keep it in check. I knew I was on the right track training under Mike. It’s not a cliché to say that Mike and Jackie made their school a family. He made allowances to ensure that I was comfortable training through the uncomfortable symptoms I was enduring. Like other autoimmune diseases, MS is a battle fought from all angles, like martial arts competition, and he always encouraged me to find a way. Mike’s instruction has changed my life.”

Jackie Neilson

Coach, Program Director

Jackie Neilson played sports as a child through her first year of high school, but never stuck with one sport or activity for very long. In high school Jackie knew she wanted to be a counselor and help people make personal life improvements. As a psychology and interpersonal communications student at Rider University, she was introduced to mixed martial arts by her younger sister, who had been training for several years.
