Michael Murray

Head Instructor

Michael Murray was born and raised in a New Jersey suburb of New York City. From a young age he imitated ninjas and martial artists on television, and later found his own reasons to want to be able to defend himself and others he cared about. He began his mixed martial arts training under Sensei Paul Querido at Tiger Schulmann’s Karate (later to become Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts, or TSMMA) in Watchung, NJ. Mike’s favorite class as a young student was grappling, and he went on to win numerous First Place medals in national tournaments including NAGA and Grappler’s Quest. It wasn’t long before Mike attained his black belt and was training as a professional mixed martial arts fighter under Master Tiger Schulmann himself and the prestigious TSK Fight Team in New York. Mike quickly gained an undefeated professional record in Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat, all while maintaining a full-time teaching position at TSMMA.

Parallel to his martial arts career, Mike’s passion for self defense and morality drew him to pursue a career in the United States Military. He enlisted in the US Army at age 23, served for a year in Iraq, and maintained a strong commitment to the National Guard while returning to martial arts competition and coaching. He took the head instructor position at TSMMA in Paramus, NJ in 2011 where he began to bring many students, age five through adult, to nation-wide competitions where many received the highest ranks in their divisions. He continued to compete himself, and currently holds a professional record of 5-1, with all victories by technical knockout or submission. In 2015 Mike, his wife Jackie, and their young daughter moved to central Pennsylvania for Mike to pursue military orders, before finally relocating to South Florida where they have started their own mixed martial arts venture, Got Your 6 Mixed Martial Arts.
